In Italy parents continue to be confident
but it makes its way the need for greater control
A model NannyCam
Watch out, baby sitter: the bear is watching. More and more mothers and American fathers who decide to install at home a "NannyCam", ie a micro-camera to control the nanny. You can hide it in a book, in the fire sensor or in soft "teddy bear" that the child always brings with it. It takes $ 80 to buy the do-it-yourself kit for a wifi spy cam and so make sure the babysitter do its duty.
Jack and Anna, a married couple in New York, Salon.com to explain why they chose to buy the camera. They had done dozens of interviews to find the right nanny for their eight-month-old baby. Finally they seemed to have found it, but the small, after some time, he began to be restless. He did not want to be left alone with the nanny and crying all the time that the parents went to work. Suspicious of this behavior, Jack and Anna decided to test. They call a technician and they did install a micro spy camera in the clock radio. And here's the surprise, as the father says, "to be sick" in the video was the child who was crying desperately and, behind him, the baby sitter that, careless, talking on the phone.
And the companies that run these remote controls speak of the video where the nannies use drugs, alcohol, or, as in most classic movie, invite your boyfriend.
Over the past five years, the United States, the purchase of hidden cameras to check the baby sitter has grown by 25%. And the 19% of parents interviewed by a research institute Texan expressed interest in buying a nanny cam.
In Italy parents seem a lot more confident. The micro cameras of the market is growing, but are still very few installed electronic eyes to monitor the nannies. Some, however, they have discovered babysitting distracted (and sometimes violent) simply because at home there was a burglar camera.
But they think the Italian tate? "Who has a clean conscience should not face the problem," says Amalia Rice, owner of "The new childhood", a training center for nursery operators. He adds: "The relationship between parents and baby sitters is still an employment relationship, rather it is much more delicate. Nannies work on children's skin."
Although the bears in the Italian houses are still only bears, they are leaving the webcam experiments linking kindergartens to monitor the moms and dads office. Projects that excite parents, but sometimes, at least initially, the teachers do not like. "But then - said Amalia Rice - they get used and they are happy."
